Version 1.3 - 2/7/01
- REX Export - export slices as a .rex file that can be imported by for instance reason and vst.
- MAP Export - creates a .map file with a keyboard layout and referenses to the wav slices to be imported by Native Instrument's Reaktor/Dynamo.
- Acid Export - tempo and bars Import/Export support in wav files according to SF Acid's specification. This is not only good when exporting/importing .wav loops to/from Acid, SoundForge, FruityLoops etc, but its also used for BeatCreator to "remember" the bars and tempo settings in the wav files.
- AKAI SCSI Support - basic support for Akai SCSI (S2000/3000XL/etc) Send/Receive, via the add on product "Millennium" (by RCS). More advanced support is soon to be expected in BeatCreator (also via Millenium).
- Slice Processor - a brand new super groovy and very powerful tool to both process and create beats and arpeggios. This is to be considered as one of the three main tools in BeatCreator (the other two are PCP and Re-Arrange).
- New groovy PCP Effects - Lowpass Decay, Bandpass Decay
- Slice any part of the sample - now its possible to define any start position of the loop in the sample. Sample start is no longer the start of the loop, instead the loop start marker is used for this. This opens up tons of new options for processing sliced loops. For instance you can use the beat tools (time-stretch, slice processor, pcp, re-arrange etc) to process any part of the sample.
- Improved MultiFilter - A snappy Resonant Filter Decay has been added. For instance great for creating drums out just about any sound etc.
- More easy to access sliders and less messy spin bars in both the PCP and the MultiFilter.
- "Snap slice markers to closest zero crossing"; available both as a stand-alone function as well as an pre-option to "Fade Slices".
- In Re-Arrange, a locked slice is marked also in the sample view.
- Snap Loop Marker to Slice Marker (a setting); When dragging a Loop marker close to a slice marker it will be snapped to that slice marker (if this option is selected).
- Real-time update of the beats ruler and tempo when dragging the loop markers.
- Multiply Loop; new tool that makes the loop longer by copy/pasting itself x times.
- Tempo and Bars are displayed in the status bar.
- Possible to change number or bars without recalculating the grid.
- Faster screen updates (when drawing the waveform and playpos marker).
- Improved support for FruityLoops v3.
- Improved support for Windows 2000.
- Many new keyboard short-cut keys
- Improved SoundFont2 Export; Now compatible with other sf2 software than Creative's. For instance BitHeadz Unity DS-1 and many others happily imports .sf2 files created by BeatCreator.
- Lots of Name changes - The term "Event" has now been replaced by "Slice" in all tools except for where it really made sence, i.e. "Locate Events".
- Loop markes are given the highest priorites when drawn in the sample view (i.e. a slice marker can no longer "hide" a loop marker)
- Fixed Quantize Slice in stereo problems.
- Fixed loading wav file problems.
- Fixed slicing problems with some samples.
- Fixed reverse slices when selected the last slice.
- Fixed many other minor bugs.
Version 1.2 - 7/31/00
- Much improved Event detection (i.e. Locate Events)
- Lots of new Effects for the PCP: Bandpass Resonant Filter, Highpass Resonant Filter, Notch Resonant Filter, EQ with Resonance, Bass boost, Treble boost, Overdrive
- New "Process" DSP Tools: Multi Filter (Lowpass/Bandpass/Highpass/Notch filters, all with resonance), Overdrive, Parametric EQ tool (Bass and Treble, can be set as Peak or Shelf), Remove DC (also available as an Open setting).
- Set Selection to Loop
- Improved Preview in all dialogs
- Automatic interaction with FruityLoops
- Improved Pitch Detection
- Scroll sample using keyboard; Left/Right Fine - Shift+Right/Left Arrow keys, Left/Right Large - Shift+PageUp/Dn keys,
- Loop status (on/off) is supported in wave files
- Much less re-calculations in PCP (equals faster results).
- The PCP effect called Mute is now renamed to Volume.
- The PCP pattern is defined slightly differently. "9" now means MUTE (not max effect) for all effects.
- In the PCP there is a separate Dry Mix setting so it can be applied to all effects (not only Volume).
- PCP Random is improved to support all kinds of values (1..9,-)
- Loop markers are drawn red (instead of blue)
- New PCP presets are added to demonstrate the new effects.
- Fixed problems with loading some wave files.
- PCP Invert pattern much improved.
- Fixed Paste/Copy-Grid menu item was not always present when it should.
- Fixed dropping a sample to the application desktop the tempo wasn't calculated.
- Fixed Pitch Detection in very small samples caused a crash.
- Fixed loop markers snap to closest zero crossing (ZX)
Version 1.1 - 4/17/00
- New low pass filter in PCP. The old one has been replaced with a nice 24dB/Oct Resonance filter.
- Export slices in SoundFont2
- Open .raw sample files (i.e. with no or unidentified header)
- Loop markers in stereo samples are now correcly compensated via the offset parameter on Open sample.
- Pressing Cancel while previewing in Tune Tempo and Tune Pitch no longer crashes the program.
- Truncate Selection and Truncate Loop now truncates correctly.
- When running Windows 98, the Preview Event (in Re-Arrange dialog) no longer crashes the program.
- Fixed Preview Loop that would sometimes not loop in Re-Arrange dialog.
- PasteGrid is no longer enabled when no grid is created (used to crash the program).
Version 1.01 - 2/10/00
- Better support for FruityLoops: "Export Slices and Groove".
- Preview mode: Select the speaker on the toolbar and click on any slice/event to preview it (you can still move/add/delete markers while in this mode).
- Crop Start: Automatically removes silence/low noise at the beginning of samples.
- User defined Loop markers Offset for both File and SCSI transfer: To once and for all fix loop marker incompability with any software and sampler. No more need to fine tune loop markers after transfer.
- Pitch Detector
- Fixed SCSI Transfer; If you selected your hard drive as Target SCSI device the boot sector could be harmed (we have a fix to recreate it though).
- Fixed the playback bug that would crash the program now and then.
- Many minor bug fixes
Version 1.0 - 10/17/99
- First full-version release.
Version 0.81 - 10/16/99
- Loop marker info chunk is saved after the sample data in the wave file. This is because some (stupid) programs are not able to detect it otherwise.
- More menu items available when no sample is opened.
- Updated help file.
- Open settings are available also when no sample is loaded.
- Disabled invalid menu items.
- SCSI Transfer available from an empty window
- Fade Events; setting in Re-Arrange Events. Fades the event to remove clicks after re-ordering. Sometimes this is not needed and can therefore now be switched off. Previously this was a hidden feature and was always ON which caused some loops to sound badly due to un-neccesary fades.
- New Drag'nDrop mode: Insert special grid! Very useful when you want to place a bunch of samples (for instance drums) in the same window for easy access to them later on. Then you can drag each of them to their new target loops. Press the [C] key before dropping and you will drop in "insert special grid" mode. This means:
- If no grid exists it will be created, the "original" sample will be the first event and what you drop will be the second event.
- If the grid is present but not viewed, it will be viewed.
- If a grid exists, what you drop will create a new event at the end of the grid.
- An updated help file.
- Zoom In Horizontal is always centered around Selection Start.
Version 0.74 beta 4 - 8/30/99
- Dynamic Pattern renamed to the elephant tranqualizer PCP, Pattern Controlled Processor.
- PCP pattern strings support levels, 1-9 (- = No effect, 1 = Min Effect, 9 = Max Effect). Levels are supported by both the Volume and Smooth filter processor in PCP.
- A PCP pattern string can contain "invalid" characters for instance to improve the readability. For instance pattern "-9-1-1-22-33-445" can be entered as "-9-1 -1-2 2-33 -445" or "-9-1,-1-2,2-33,-445" or "-9-1:-1-2:2-33:-445".
- Improved PCP calculation quality
- PCP pattern numbers are drawn in PCP's sample view
- Clipboard contents can be viewed (and edited!) in a sample window (View --> Clipboard)
