VeraTracker is a Windows 95/NT based program that allows you to make
your own music. You do this by taking audio samples (such as .wav files)
and laying them out in patterns. Tracker compositions are like MIDI
compositions, except they also include the actual sounds (instruments)
that are used in the composition. This means that songs can be reproduced
exactly as they were composed on any computer with a sound card.
VersaTracker consists of two main components, an instrument editor and
a pattern editor. The instrument editor allows you to load instrument/sample
files, edit them, and change their parameters. Everything here will be
familiar for those that have used FastTracker II before. The pattern editor
allows you to edit patterns in two different ways. One is the good-ol'
"event editor" that most tracker composers are used to. The other is a
"piano roll," quite similar to that found in MIDI applications like
Cakewalk.
Currently loads and plays IT (2.12 and earlier), MOD, S3M, XM and edits
XM files.
