Verbose is a free text to speech program for Windows. It will read aloud any text or save it as MP3.

Once this text reader software is installed, you can assign a system wide hot key. Then whenever you want Verbose to read the text on your screen just push that key and the software will read it aloud.

Because the program creates MP3 file formats, the resulting audio can simply be moved to an iPod or other portable MP3 player for use away from the computer.
