Quartz Composer is a musical composition assistant which aids in creating musical pieces - even when the user has little or no practical experience or theoretical knowledge of music.
Composer arrangement/accompaniment software works by letting you enter chords, set the loop points and press 'Play'. You graphicaly create your melody by inserting and moving 'sound clips' in real time.
A song is made of three parts: the melody, the harmony, the rythm parts to which you apply a Style (Blues, Funk, Ska, etc.). The melody part can be graphically added/edited in real-time with a piano-roll style editor, imported from a MIDI file or recorded on the fly. The harmony part consists of a set of chords and loop points and the rythm part is a set of drum licks.
