Recording School Online has produced a new series of videos called the “hands on” series. This new series of videos goes into great detail and is focused on the preparation and recording of musical instruments step-by-step. Currently all videos are available to new customers at half-price. Not only do these videos cover microphone techniques, they also cover the preparation of musical instruments to help students understand how to prepare each musical instrument accordingly to capture the best possible sound. These new additions have just been added to the video library at RSO. Many students don't realize the importance of having an instrument properly prepared before the recording actually begins. The first two videos of this series cover the topics of setting up and preparing drums and guitars. The drum video goes into great detail on how to tune drums, both top and bottom heads as well as dampening, cymbal set up, various microphone techniques, kick drum configurations, room acoustics, and other elements that affect the quality of how drums are recorded. The guitar video covers both electric and acoustic guitars, guitar amps, strings, effects pedals, microphone placements, as well as other pertinent information to help students understand how the instrument itself responds in the recording process. These new video additions are now available as part of the Recording School Online program. This program is available to all students 24/7 for three-month intervals. The program also includes over a thousand pages of text/video presentations as well as over 100 videos on the topics of mixing, mastering, equalization, compression, digital effects, recording and a host of other topics. Students also receive direct, one-on-one teacher support for the recording is they're making.
