Blue Microphones Launches "Blue University" Online Training Program - 01/23/2006

Blue Microphones has announced the launch of Blue University, a comprehensive online microphone education program.

The program consists of three Modules from beginning to advanced levels, called Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. The curriculum in each module involves a study of online materials, examples, and tests drawing upon the experience of Blue’s knowledge of the microphone and of the company’s Marketing Director Eric Boyer, a former studio owner and recording engineer with 18 years of studio experience.

Boyer designed the program to both engage and enlighten the user, arming them with the information to get more out of their microphones and better their understanding of sound and recording.

“We know how intimidating loads of technical data can be for some folks, especially in today’s studio when they’re faced with a dizzying array of equipment and platforms,” says Boyer. “Regardless of the march of technology and its implications in our field, there is one constant – the transducer. You still need to get sound into the box! Our intention with Blue U is to illustrate the critical importance of the microphone to the recording process and hopefully help our users understand the implications of their mic selection and placement choices, which is, in our opinion, the essence of this craft.”

Designed to provide the user with a solid foundation on which to build their Blue product knowledge and recording skills, the program begins with the Bachelor’s level, covering the fundamentals of sound, microphones and transducers, history, and basic electronics concepts.

The Master’s level moves into more advanced concepts, components, acoustic concepts and application of theory in the recording process. Finally, the Ph.D. level focuses on acoustic and electrical sciences, theories, and philosophies and how they relate to microphone technology, placement and recording practices.

Blue U offers incentive rewards upon successful completion of the final exam of each module. These awards will advance in value as the user advances and will be such things as company logo gifts and rebates on Blue Microphones gear.

“Education empowers our customers to make decisions in their own best interest, ultimately ensuring their satisfaction, adds Boyer. “We also know that most people don’t like reading manuals and textbooks so we’ve created a fun, compelling, and interactive environment which actually rewards the user for learning about something he or she already loves – making and recording music.”
