Bias Releases Resampling Performance Whitepaper in Conjunction with Peak Pro 5.0 Release - 12/23/2005

In connection with the shipment of version 5.0 of its Peak Pro mastering software, Bias has released a white paper analyzing the performance of eleven other audio applications in performing sample rate conversions.

Other programs compared included Adobe Audition, ProTools, Logic, SoundForge, BarbraBatch and Cubase

"Sample rate conversion, also known as resampling, is one of the most important yet least understood stages in the final audio processing stage," said Steve Berkley, CEO and President for BIAS, Inc. "With many professionals recording at high sample rates, fidelity is often lost at the final processing stage due to sample rate conversion that results in aliasing, artifacts, and added noise. Since many users depend on Peak for professional processing, BIAS prioritized the development of an advanced real time and offline resampling algorithm for Peak Pro 5"

Instructions for reproducing the tests along with test files enabling other interested parties to see for themselves how the results were obtained are included. The graphs in the white paper illustrate the varying results and demonstrate that Peak Pro 5 offers one of the highest-quality software based sample rate conversion algorithms.
