FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 30th 1999 CONTACT: Music animates the Internet as SSEYO partners with FLASH - a dream team for Web designers UK Web tools designers SSEYO release version 6 of the Koan Plugin, their globally successful generative music system. This release fulfils a dream for leading web designers: very low-bandwidth music (composed by the software from files as small as 1k) actually driving Macromedia Flash animations. No streaming: no frozen websites. Websites are no longer point and click, becoming interactive audio-visual experiences that evolve and change with each visit. And it doesn't stop there. Koan Plugin 6.0 also allows existing MIDI files to drive Flash animations (or other applications) as well. Music, the universal language, can now be used to 'animate' the Internet. Through over 100 inbuilt Koan Plugin functions, website designers and animators can extract and play with musical information and use it to drive a Flash animation or other application. Magnus Carlsson, Macromedia's European Strategic Programmes Manager, said "Macromedia is delighted by the release of the SSEYO Koan Plugin 6.0. That pioneering music software developers like SSEYO are creating innovative web solutions that powerfully utilise Flash illustrates just how significant web animations are". To be available shortly after launch, SSEYO will be featuring a Flash demo created by Mousepower, one of Macromedia's top UK developers. John Roland, Mousepower's Managing Director, added "We're always looking out for innovations, particularly where they add to the user experience without creating a bandwidth overhead. Flash is well proven in this area, but now coupled with Koan, the use of music on the web is taken into a new dimension. The potential is amazing..". Commenting on the release, Mary Branscombe, Editor of AOL UK's Computing Channel, said "If you can add sound to animations without needing to download large files, your Web pages are going to look better and still load quickly. We're always looking for tools that AOL UK members can use to make great Web pages in the free Web space we offer, and we think this new release of Koan will prove popular. It's such a natural combination. I've really enjoyed some of the generative music that's been composed with Koan and adding the power to control animations and trigger events means you could make eye-catching and ear-catching banners, adverts and interfaces." The new Koan Plugin 6.0 will shortly be available for download through Netscape's popular Netscape Netcenter SmartUpdate service, where 20 of the web's most significant plugins, including Koan, are available. Uri Blackman, SmartUpdate Senior Program Manager said: "The Netscape SmartUpdate service allows users to download free software from Netscape, SSEYO and other leading companies quickly and easily." The term 'generative music', was popularised by Koan user Brian Eno, producer of the forthcoming album by U2. There have been over 2 million downloads of Koan software and content to date, and a global community of users. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION http://www.sseyo.com/pr990330.html | ©Copyright 1999 SSEYO Ltd.
