Media Jukebox 6 Released - 01/05/2001

Minneapolis, MN (Jan 5, 2001): J. River, a DRM provider, today announced a release of MEDIA JUKEBOX 6.0 with features not found in any other media player/organizer, including a revolutionary peer-to-peer (P2P) home networking solution that allows remote access to media files from multiple PC locations.

"There are so many new features in 6.0 that is it difficult to zero in on any one," stated Peter Sohal, VP of Marketing. "Users will be astonished by how much we have packed into one application."

Major new features are broadcast and cable TV playback, DVD support, digital playback of audio CD's and internal DSP for improved sound quality. A Media View feature provides greater flexibility to browse, organize and play files, giving users unprecedented control of media files and playlists. Faster access to large media file libraries is also provided.

Other features include MEDIA EDITOR, a useful tool for editing sound files, and MEDIA SCHEDULER, a task-scheduling utility that automates specific MEDIA JUKEBOX actions, like playback and recording. MEDIA JUKEBOX 6.0 also offers support for Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox and other MP3 hardware players, and a greater choice of plug-in options.

"With this new version, we are extending the multimedia capabilities of MEDIA JUKEBOX," said Nikolay Sokratov, CTO of J. River. "We have extended the definition of a digital jukebox by creating a complete entertainment center."

MEDIA JUKEBOX plays all popular music formats, including MP3, QuickTime, Audible, Microsoft Windows Media, LiquidAudio and RealAudio. Support for secure MusicEx files allows e-commerce opportunities for owners of music and other digital media.

The jukebox has received 5-star ratings from prominent download sites, including MP3.com and Vitaminic.com, and has the highest user-rating of any jukebox at CNET.com and ZDNet.com.
