Button Production Announces BeatCreator - 02/11/2000

February 11, 2000 - About a year ago Button Production released the highly appreciated and time saving software "Seamless Looper" (for automatic finding seamless sustain loops). Now it's time for their next release, BeatCreator, a software for messing around with rhythmic loops and pieces of music.

Easy to use
BeatCreator is actually a sample editor specialized on creating, processing and editing rhythmic loops. As it's based around a very familiar sample editing user interface, you can get started working on your loops right away instead of spending time learning a new interface.

A Groovy Vacuum cleaner
BeatCreator can virtually slice any sample. Either based on events or a given note length (e.g. 1/16). This gives you the power to process, edit and move each slice (for instance a bass drum) individually within or between loops. You can easily create new loops based on the groove in others as the grid created on one loop can be applied to any other loop (or even an empty sample). As the slicing also can be based on a given note length, you can even slice non rhythmic sustain samples, raw noise or pieces of music. In combination with the Pattern Controlled Processor (PCP) you can easily create groovy on beat effects on just about any sound from your sampled vacuum cleaner to the final mix.

Use of sampler and sequencer is optional
As BeatCreator can do most kind of editing (Quantize, TimeStretch, ReArrange, Replace, Filter etc) within the loop, it is not always necessary to export the loop as multiple slices and then use a sequencer to modify it. If you don't own a sampler or find it messy to work with tons of sliced samples and midi files you can simply export the modified loop as a single sample (via wave file or SCSI Sample Dump). Then you can use the new loop directly in any software that can play back loops (e.g. Acid, FruityLoops, CuBase VST, GrooveMaker...). But the choice is yours, BeatCreator also support exporting the loop sliced (i.e. one sample per slice) and is happy to create a suiting midi or a groove file for the sequencer.

Exclusive support for exporting slices to FruityLoops
Exporting a sliced loop for further editing and use in FruityLoops (v2.11x) is extremely easy. FruityLoops supports BeatCreator's new groove format and automatic virtually recreates the loop based on the slices. This lets you modify each slice individually using the very powerful tools in FruityLoops.

Features

  • On beat sample editing and dsp processing.
  • Virtual & Destructive Slicing of rhythmic loops, based on Events or a given Note length (e.g. 1/16...).

  • ReArrange the beat. Both fully manual and groovy random tools.
  • Quantize individual events (e.g. a bass drum) within the loop.
  • Replace individual events with each other or other samples.
  • TimeStretch drumloops.
  • SCSI Sample Dump (SMDI).
