Muon Atom - Free VST SoftSynth - 01/06/2000

This January sees the launch of Muon Software, a brand new company dedicated to producing high-quality low-cost audio software products for PC musicians.

Previously well-known on the freeware scene for their Buzz (the superb tracker program) plug-ins, the company is now focused purely on the commercial market.

In order to celebrate their move out of the back garage they felt that more than just champagne was needed - and so, true to their roots, they have a stunning limited freeware offer.

The Muon Atom is an 8 voice polyphonic software synthesiser, with a powerful filter and a warm, analogue sound. It slots quickly into an Instrument rack within VST, and sends its output directly into the VST monitor mixer for total integration.

Features include:

  • Standard VST rack interface for easy parameter editing, patch/bank storage and recall.
  • Two oscillators per voice (sawtooth and variable pulse waves). Based on a classic analogue synth, the sound is clear and packs plenty of bottom-end punch.
  • 24 dB per octave low-pass filter with resonance. Sweeps. blips, soft pads, big basses can all be created with little effort.
  • Sample-accurate response to MIDI events.
  • 64-bit internal processing for superb sound.

So if you are using Cubase VST you would be well-advised to visit www.muon-software.com as soon as possible to download your copy of the Muon Atom. The free offer period ends in Spring 2000, so don’t get left out.

Muon Software is also working on a standalone version of Muon Atom which has the same specs as the VST version, except it will work with any MIDI sequencer, DirectX or multimedia sound card drivers. Muon Software has provide The Sonic Spot with a sneak preview of what's to come. Please note that this is a "work-in-progress" screen-shot and things could very easily change.
