n-Track Studio is an audio and MIDI multitrack recorder. With this program you'll be able to use your computer as a recording machine, without having to buy a real tape multitrack recorder. You can record a virtually unlimited number of audio and MIDI tracks, and playback them together. Audio tracks are stored as normal wave files on your hard disk. Obviously while recording a track you will be hearing all the other tracks previously recorded. Using the "virtual" mixer, you can adjust track levels, pan a track to the left or right channel etc..
Real-time Audio effects such as echo, chorus and compression can be added to each track or to the master channel non-destructively: you can adjust the effect settings and listen to the result in real time. Apart from its native effects (echo, auto volume, chorus & compression) the program also supports the standard DirectX and VST plugin interface.
Features
- 32-bit effects processing and mixing
- Works with any standard or multichannel 16 and 24 bit soundcards
- Any combination of 16, 24 and 32 bit mono and stereo wave files can be used in the same song or even on the same track
- Up to 32 aux channels with fully automated sends & returns
- Syncs to other programs or external devices using SMPTE/MTC or MIDI Clock sync, acting either as master or slave
- Destructive and non-destructive editing operations can be performed within the program, allowing easy copy, cut, paste of portions of wave files between different tracks
- Multiple input and output soundcards or more than one soundcard are supported so it's possible to record more than one track at a time and to output to more than one stereo output. Each output channels has its own master effects section and master volume control
- Loads and saves MIDI tracks to standard MIDI files
- Wave and MIDI tracks are treated in the same fashion: all the controls work in a similar way for both audio and MIDI tracks.
- Videos (AVI, MPEG, Quicktime) can be played in sync with the song in a dedicated video playback window
- A single track can contain an unlimited number of wave files. Looping of wave files can be easily accomplished concatenating several instances of the same wave file
- It's possible to automate the evolution of the volume, pan, send and return settings: you can "program" fade-in/outs, cross fades, boost the volume of a track when there is a solo etc..
- A pair of vu-meters for every input and output channel help to make sure that the recording and playback levels are correct, and that no clipping occurs
- Due to the fact that audio tracks are stored as normal wave files, you'll be able to process the tracks with the help of an external wave editor
- Once finished recording the whole song, you can mixdown all the tracks into a single wav file to eventually to use it to record a CD track using a CD recorder or to distribute the song via the Internet using the built-in mp3 encoder
- DirectX and VST plugin and instrument support
- Provides ASIO driver support
