The Mellosoftron is a low latency, fully programmable virtual sampler. It can be played live with a MIDI keyboard, with a sequencer or with any MIDI file player. You can edit all instrument patches and create new ones from scratch using your own WAVs.
Since it comes with an integrated patch editor and uses the same file formats (PRGs and WAVs) as
MIDInight Express and WAVmaker, the Mellosoftron is the ideal tool for the creation of your own instruments. Add the Acid WAV synthesizer and sound
editor and you have a virtual recording studio inside your PC.
In order to control the Mellosoftron from other programs running on the same system (like the Media Player or a MIDI sequencer) you need a virtual MIDI port through which they can communicate. The author of Mellosoftron recommends Hubi's MIDI Loopback Device as a very nice virtual MIDI port for Windows 9x (not currently supported on NT).
