LP Ripper automates the process of cutting up and converting a long recording of an entire LP to seperate WAV or MP3 files. It works by taking a recording you have made of each side of an LP as a single WAV file and automatically splitting the file into separate WAV files for each track. If you have a command-line MP3 Encoder, LP Ripper will use that to produce an MP3 file for each track.
Converting your LPs to MP3 files is a great way of storing and playing your favourite music. Once it is in MP3 format you can store the equivalent of a dozen LPs onto a single CD, or two - three LPs on a 100Mb Zip disk. With an MP3 player like WinAmp you can play any mix of tracks you like, as often as you like, without damaging the original disks.
LP Ripper calculates the length of each track by detecting the gap between tracks and displays a track listing showing the time of each track. You can then select which track(s) you want to save as separate WAV or MP3 files.
Some LPs have little or no gaps between tracks; others have long quiet sections that could be mistaken for a gap. LP Ripper lets you change the times that it has calculated and automatically adjusts the length of the remaining tracks.
Track names can be edited using the full 255 characters of Windows' long file names even if your MP3 Encoder does not support them.
