Version 2.08 - 1/19/00

  • Now includes a monostable tool which is used to shape control pulses and a sophisticated additive synthesiser. This supports up to 64 channels with a separate amplitude envelope for each channel and can be trained by analysing an existing sound file.
  • The reverb has been rewritten for improved usability and performance.
  • Real time performance has been improved and the minimum latency reduced.
  • The toolbar has been restructured to make space for more tools.
  • Menu bat has been re-engineered to be an explorer style control bat with dropdown menus.
  • Layout editing has been substantially improved with clipboard facilities, group move, undo and various other editing functions.
  • DirectX output has been improved.
  • Some problems related to stopping active layouts corrected.
  • Various other minor bug fixes.
  • Documentation for new tools added to help and tutorial.

Version 2.06 - 9/22/99

  • New tools - include an allpass filter, a comb filter, an annotation for documenting layouts and an FIR filter.
  • Bug fixes - a few minor bugs reported by 1.05 users have been fixed.
  • Larger output files - output file size limits have been extended to over 100 Mb.
  • Retired tools - the echo tool has been retired and replaced by the more functional comb filter. Echo is still supported for backwards compatibility.
  • Pulse waveforms - the tone generator now supports square waves with user defined duty cycle.
  • More documentation - the documentation and tutorial have been further expanded.

Version 2.05 - 8/1/99

  • Increased the maximum number of tools on a workspace to 1000
  • Added a new file based granular synthesiser tool which uses an external wave file to define the granule.

Version 2.04 - 5/1/99

  • 32-bit samples - All FX2 internal sample calculations now use 32 bit floating point samples. This provides vastly improved immunity or overflow and underflow and much higher sound quality for professional applications.
  • Faster real time operation and lower latency - FX2 now provides lower latency which, combined with improved internal optimisation has improved real time performance increasing the sample generation rate and reducing latency. The real time user interface tools such as faders and signal level indicators have been enhanced to improve usability.
  • Built-in sequencer - FX2 now includes its own built-in musical sequencer tool which can be used for musical effects or complex multi-file mixing.
  • More and better tools - FX2 continues to increase the range and quality of tools. This release has a new sequencer, two vocoders, two more filters, a layout tool, much better real time controls and lots of new features and options on existing tools.
  • User defined tools - A new layout tool lets you use an entire FX2 layout file as a tool - so you can use FX2 to build more FX2 tools.
  • Better frequency precision and wider range FX2 frequency generators now operate down to 0.01 Hz with improved frequency precision for musical applications. Amplitude controls have been standardised on dB for greater usability.
  • More documentation - The tutorial has been further expanded. All tutorial examples are included with FX2.
