DirectX Media includes the components required by Windows music and audio applications that use DirectAnimation, DirectShow and DirectX Transform. These components provide support for animation, media streaming (transmission and viewing of audio and video as it downloads over the Internet) and interactivity.

Support for DirectShow and DirectAnimation is also built into the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, so you may not need to download and install DirectX Media if the necessary components are already installed on your system.
