DirectCsound is a real-time version of Csound, a popular sound synthesis language interpreter. It is a command-line program that is run in a DOS window or from one of the Csound graphical front-ends, such as Visual Orchestra. Even though it is a command-line program, it still has real-time features allowing you to use MIDI and audio input to control the sound synthesis output.
DirectCsound version 3.0 is syncronized to standard Csound version 3.58.
Features
- Full 16-bit stereo output ranging from 5000 to 44100 Hz in real-time
- Real-time MIDI input from Windows standard MIDI devices
- Definable number of output WAVE buffers
- Virtual console for supporting up to 2050 lines of text output (scrolling window)
- DirectX low-latency audio output support
Requirements
- Windows 95/98/NT
- Pentium 133 MHz (about 50 oscillators in real-time at 44.1 kHz)
- Microsoft DirectX 6.0 or higher (recommended)
