Version 2.02.1 reviewed by Mitch Bechtel - 12/10/98 This CD player has a nice package of unique features not found in other CD players such as sound card sampling, segment playback/looping. InstallationInstallation is simple. Unzip the compressed file into a temporary setup directory and then run the InstallSheild setup program. InterfaceThe interface displays quite a bit of information all from the main screen. This is nice because there aren't alot of sub-windows, but it the list boxes are pretty small for containing all of the CDs in your database and all the songs in a long playlist etc. This wouldn't be so bad if the contents of the window adjusted when you resized the window, but it sticks. SegmentsOne of the coolest features to me, is the ability to setup segments of a CD or track. The segment can then be used in a playlist if you only want a part of a track to play or if you have a CD that combines multiple songs or parts into one track. SamplingThe segment can also be easily sampled into your sound card through it's input. While this is not as cool as extracting the audio directly from the CD, as many other programs can, it does provide a quick way to get a fairly decent sample (depending on your sound cards capabilities). Also, some CD-ROMs are not capable of direct audio extraction, which makes this the best alternative. PrintingPrinting, is another feature not found in most CD players. This is handy for printing quick and dirty playlists and CD collection information. Bugs/StabilityThe shareware version was tested on a Pentium 200 with a SoundBlaster AWE32 and NEC SCSI CD-ROM with no problems or crashes. Final AnalysisA few unique features which make it a valuable program for people who want to utilize these feature. The interface has room for improvement and once your CDs have been cataloged there is no way to export them to a new program if you decide to upgrade. A very resonable price. Pros
