Band-in-a-Box is an automatic accompaniment program that allows you to type in the chord symbols to any song, using standard chord symbols like C, Fm7, and Cm7b5, then choose a style and press play. It generates instrument accompaniment of bass, drums, piano, guitar and strings strings to be played back through your MIDI system or PC sound card. It produces notation, printout, automatic solos and harmonies, and much more.

One of the software's most amazing features is called "Automatic Songs". Select the style of song you'd like to create, and Band-in-a-Box will automatically generate a complete song in that style, in the key and tempo you want, complete with intro, chords, melody, arrangement and solo improvisations. The generated songs are different every time.
