ASM Audio is a powerful program for mixing together several tracks of digital audio in real time. It is a 32-bit Windows application, meaning it requires Windows 95 or NT, and it uses Microsoft's DirectX sound engine - DirectSound. ASM has combined the power of DirectSound with an intuitive and engaging interface to allow you to easily arrange individual sounds.
You use ASM to bring sound files together into a composition. The power lies in the fact that it doesn't matter what these sounds are... Need a drum machine? Just import some drum machine samples and you're away, you can create drum patterns by just combining the sounds on the 'grid'. Need to add some sound effects to a voice over? You can import the voice over, then the effects, then you're free to adjust the position of each element until you're completely happy.
ASM supports industry standard WAV files, which you can produce from any of a multitude of third-party editing software.
