AnalogX Virtual Piano

Not Rated

AnalogX Virtual Piano allows you to play your MIDI synth by turning the computer keyboard into a 4-octave piano keyboard. Sure, you're probably not going to be able to play classical music this way, but you can experiment and have fun using a very different interface than normal, which can sometimes help to stimulate the creative process.

You must have a MIDI output device, as well as a sound source to use this program (anything from a SoundBlaster to a MIDI TimePiece will do); then just run the program, configure the MIDI devices, and start jamming.

VPiano is mainly geared towards people who don't want to go over to the synth just to find the patch they're looking for.

Features

  • Select the channel, velocity, and patch
  • Pressing [shift] will play a note one octave up, pressing [ctrl] will play a note one octave down. (releasing the key before releasing the [shift] or [ctrl] will leave the note on).
  • Function keys F1-F8 change the octave that all following notes play in, providing an 8 octave range.
  • Minimizing the application sends it to the system tray (lower right, by the clock).

Requirements

  • Windows 95/98/NT
  • Sound card or MIDI interface
